I think we can drop that the whole "masses" thing. I was quoting zlatko anyway. And I am very sorry about your mother. I suppose the poetry of Collins holds more of a sentimental value than I had originally perceived. I had anautisitic friend who died of a seizure when he was sixteen. SInce then I h...

Collins has helped ruin American poetry, and has nothing to do with sentiment or entertainment value: its detachment, living inside the image's and the conepts of life without really feeling. I would argue that him and Pinsky are the reason that "the masses" don't really read a whole lot of new poet...

Your first two have a weird rythym to them. Their fast-moving haiku. Number two didn't catch hold of me really. The third one did, and the second time I read i sort of understood it. It has a good sense of space.
You have a very interesting voice.

It would be quite a challenge to capture Bukowski's sardonic tone cinematically. I would be shocked if the filmmakers could pull it off.

This is interesting. You might want to re-consider the title, though; I thought it was going to be a comedic piece.

It was a clever movie that lost some steam third act, and and went on a couple minutes past what it should have. I always have a problem with movies that don't end on the right note.
But other than that, it was humorous and keenly observational.

Towards the soft fire,
A dying blaze;
Alone among withering daffodils,
The dullest maze-
How sad it is to have
Open eyes!
(But what harm may come
From persistent disguise)

Pearl Jam

I am hopelessly addicted to Eddie Vedder's voice, the lyrics, and all of PJ's composition styles.
Are there any other Pearl Jam fans on this board?

I agree with Dave,
I like Hallelujah the best too, although the Cale version is a bit too up-tempo.
But you gotta love that perennial classic of cynicism, "Everybody Knows"

Good point, knip.
I mainly wished that they would somehow treat it even-handedly. It would be a bit strange to take it out though.

I've read parts of "Me Talk Pretty One Day," and it is pretty funny. I did not know that he wrote fiction, though.[/img]
