Latest article from the Washington Post — list of those released as well as those remaining. Unfortunately, I don’t see her name mentioned so that’s disturbing. I don’t know what it means that her name isn’t listed as waiting to be released.

🙏❤️

EDIT— I was wrong— the article doesn’t list those people who are still being held hostage.

doreen - do you know how old judih's husband is? Saw a report yesterday that a 75 year old male hostage from Nir Oz has died. His name is not given.

Here’s a link to an interview with Judih’s daughter Iris … she says now she knows her father was killed in the attack on October 7th

It’s all so sad. 😞

I'm stuck between two worlds. With the unknown fate of Judih, and the rage of Hamas upon the Jewish people of Israel. The other world being what I see as the genocide committed against the innocent Palestinians. I understand the eliminating of terrorists, but not those innocent of any crime. Does that make me an anti-semite?

Oh course not, Kurt!!! People that say it’s antisemitism to care about the lives of innocent Palestinians are totally out of line! I hate hearing those bogus accusations!

I’m so upset about the thousands of innocent Palestinian lives lost — murdered, just like the Israelis were murdered during the October 7th attack…. It’s horrible!!! 😢

When has there never been a war? Is it a survival mechanism that's hardwired into us?

I tend to think so. Our nearest genetic relatives, the chimpanzees, have been observed engaging in systematic extermination of rival groups. Unfortunately, the evolution of our smarts has outpaced the evolution of wisdom. We don't fight with our teeth and hands, or even sticks - we're much too clever for that. We don't have to look our enemy in the eye - hell, we don't even have to live on the same continent. Hooray for us - the pinnacle of evolution. Man the Builder.

The gentle bonobo
Once overlooked, researchers are recognising bonobos as more similar than chimpanzees to humans. Which, considering their reputation as amicable apes, is good news for us.

Unlike the male-dominated groups of chimpanzees, bonobos live in peaceful communities where the chief is female. Indeed, human societies tend to be matriarchal when there is little direct competition for resources.

I stand corrected. I don't know where the bonobos lie on our family tree, and anyway I should not be making blanket statements about subjects I am untrained in. Personal opinions are another matter - but they should be clearly labeled as such. I failed to do so. Probably failed to recognize them as such myself.
