Doreen: the book making envolves re-read, re-member, re-fresh & a lot of work ...! it sounds good!!! (but I have to say that I don´t know how to be helpful in the work-work part!!!!! :) ).

I would also like to listen to all of you reading: (don´t worry it´s not a test...!! ) why not make a kind of audio-book-thread where we read our poems or the poems of other s-8 poets?. It can be fun & there is already a fórum available for that!!!!

Hi Arcadia... though I think that's a great idea, I don't think there are very many members who have recording capabilities. I have a handheld audio recorder around here somewhere but I haven't used it for years and I'm not sure where I put it. I used to record with Clay via a microphone and recording software but he set that all up. I know Judih and Wireman record spoken word audio plus sweetwater and Michael and Wireman record music but is there anyone else? If we put something together I'd like a lot of people to be involved. Yeah, a book is a lot of work but given the fact that I have very little work right now, I was thinking it might be a good idea for both the community and for me since I'm feeling rather useless. Haha! ;) Just an idea to have a print book again. Yes, let's keep talking about ideas. Thank you!

I know how to do it. Here's how to do it.

First, you need a recording method like either a small digital recorder or a microphone and recording software. Then you record the piece by speaking into the digital recorder or microphone and you save the file to your computer as an .mp3.

Then, you click UPLOAD ATTACHMENT an upload the mp3 and there you have it, there will be an audio player which appears on the page. There are instructions also posted in the Music & Spoken Word forum at the top of the page. ;)

Crap. It's not working. I don't know why. Creating a book is easier. hah

Wait! It worked. :)

OK, so do you have a recording method like a digital recording device or a microphone to plug into the back of your computer? If so, you can record and upload a piece, too.

i use a free online recording app called "Audacity"
download it and download the LAME app for converting to MP3 - or a .wav file

you need a plug-in mic
after you download audacity (love that thing), you adjust the volume controls
and record yourself. save the file. then on the file menu you click into 'export as'...you choose MP3. It asks you to save it. You do. and there you have it. a digital file.

best to silence fans, close doors when recording to get top quality.

i use it all the time for school (since I have students who have an accommodation to hear texts along with reading them).

So if you need help, just ask me or go to a youtube tutorial.

Yes. Audacity. It's free. It's a simple recording app to be used in conjunction with a microphone plugged into the back of your computer. I use that app, too, judih.

So, how many people would participate in recording? Sign up here.

I suspect there will be only 3 or 4 of us because that's how it's always been. There are only 3 or 4 members who post recordings.

Please note that when you record, it's best to be in as quiet a place as possible because of ambient noise. It's not easy removing the background noise from a recording.

Here's a link to download Audacity.

Here's an inexpensive mic ($25). This should work. http://www.amazon.com/CAD-U1-Dynamic-Re ... ophone+mac
