Flew to visit one of my nephews in San Francisco, CA about three weeks ago...
We stayed a week & took in the sights, & sounds of the city. We caught the view off
the top of Coit Tower & visited the docks & many different places including Muir Woods
in Marin County. One day, we ate gelato, at a Greek/Italian bistro just up the street from City Lights Books-- after a grand meal in China Town that evening.

The area is looking shinier than it did back in 1972, when I was last there. My wife &
daughter really enjoyed their stay, too. My nephew lives in Haight Ashbury district.
I was amazed by the variety of stellar transportation the city has to offer...Back to the future!

I make the visit to San Francisco about 1-2 times a year. I'm in the North Bay about 45 min drive away. There's a ferry that takes about an hour from my city to SF.

North Beach and Little Italy are my favorite spots. Chinatown is nice too but there's a lot of tourists.

San Francisco is at a bitter sweet junction at the moment. Many natives and long time residents simply cannot afford to live there anymore.

same here in DC...i could no longer afford it so I headed to B'more back in the 90's until i found my present home in the historic town of Frederick Md. about 40 miles from both, now its become a hot spot and packed with tourists and scenesters, its been the same old story from Adams Morgan in DC to Arlington, Va. and B'more, you eventually get priced out, it's inevitable....now at 61 i'm about run out of places, i think...but who knows....ive. carved a fairly good niche here as an artist so its most likely my last stand
