My writing days may be over

Post by Doreen Peri » June 9th, 2015, 11:00 pm

I can't write about the past. I can't write about the present. I can't write about the future. I guess I'm done.

Even with eyes closed, one of good woodcraft knows the difference between a mockingbird and what it mocks, but there's nothing more honest than a timber rattler's rattling tail.

Mist Pen, When I see someone discouraged about their writing, I try to encourage them.
Mist Pen, everything I have read lately tells me that you CAN write... Even if it is a reprint
or reprise from the past... :!: Good lord, lady, you can write better
off the top of your head, jam focused, better than many who plan out their every step.

I've had an extreme case of writer's block lately & still manage a quip or two. I blame my
new computer troubles on my problems, sometimes, to take up the slack. Currently, I am
working on a poem which I am not sure is ready for public consumption. Going to my
"staycation" called "Riverbend Festival" has really inspired me this year. I am brimming
with stuff, but just take a sip off the top of the glass.

Keep sending those cards & epistles out to the world, & eventually folks will write back in
real time :!:

really? like a library? no alcohol?

Guess what? No alcohol.... no audience. All people want to do is drink. They don't give a shit about the poetry.... well the poets do, but not the audience. They just want to drink..... but anyway, let me know. I'll read at a podium to 5 people sitting in hardback folding chairs drinking water ;) I don't care. I'll read to anybody.

The drunks don't listen anyway. Seriously, the only reason they're there is to drink.

I remember reading my "email exchange with god" at Nola and so many people were drinking and talking loud amongst themselves that I improvised and yelled in the mic:

"And God said SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

hahah

Got their attention for a minute or so.

yeah...u just summed it up.....thats why i do the wild wireman routine.....cant pull out the cerebral or loving wireman act in a bar, i learned that 20 years ago in b'more bars....aint it funny how theyll all be runnin their mouths and flappin jaws and when u finish a piece they all a sudden give polite applause  .....u told me to turn up the mic when anna was doin her stuff and i said its already on max.......no use tellin em to keep it down, they're in a bar to bullshit and drink....coffee houses are better, also art galleries....theres a new place thats a film studio here near nola, me n will n harry just had a show there in may....might b a good place with featured poets....i hate the open mic shit to be perfectly honest....give me exprience 8)
