Lrod in full fool regalia
here's the deal
the Fool tells it like it is
that's why he wears the funny hat
so that everybody will know
not to pay attention to what he says
but the fool is the only one
who can tell the king
that he has bad breath
without heads rolling
So, I'm being the fool today
It's April 1st, my day
I'm going to tell it like it is
this is the truth, children
everybody lies
whether by a subtle puff of their resume
denying culpability for a fart
or saying that they don't masturbate or eat boogers
or when they compliment bad art
everybody lies
everybody is selfish
despite
extravagant protestations
effusive lamentations
and demonstrations
of praying in public
everybody is selfish
We all want something for nothing
it's the pasture of the con man
but the Fool is unconnable
he wants nothing for something
oh yes, fools, drunks and little children
are bearers of the truth
in absurditas veritas
they catch the tiger by the tooth
Happy April Fool's Day
a fool and her hunny are soon parted
tripping over each other
like crazy bunnies in gloves
a fool and her money
can't buy no love
or save the serious
from woe
a fool is alone
in her jocularity
shunned
but such is the life chose
I ain't no rose
bud
but I
do look good in clown shoes
and polkadots
tripping over each other
like crazy bunnies in gloves
a fool and her money
can't buy no love
or save the serious
from woe
a fool is alone
in her jocularity
shunned
but such is the life chose
I ain't no rose
bud
but I
do look good in clown shoes
and polkadots
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse

There are tulips blooming
in a pear tree shadow.
I cannot get the grass to grow.
Weeds spread faster than fescue or rye.
I cannot get the grass to grow
no matter how hard I try.
The tulips are yellow and red.
The crocus' are violet and white.
But I cannot get the grass to grow.
Try as I might.
Maybe I'm a fool, but I imagine it lush.
I've seeded, I've watered, I've cried.
I even bought fertilizer
(though never applied).
What's a garden girl to do
but to nurture the sweet debut
of heather and ornamental grass.
But I cannot get the grass to grow.
I'm a fool or an ass, that's all I know.

my grass grows
and my neighbour plucks it
tiny small leaves
here today
and then gone
the grass is always greener
(she must think)
and so she is neighbourly
only a fool would be so quick
to steal a plant in its infancy
give them some leaf
they're happy for a day
teach them to grow
they're busy til May

one april fool!
that's me.
it's something past 1,
dark sky,
rain's falling
grass is greening up --
and the city's quiet outside my window.
the only flowers I can see from my window
are the ones on the sidewalks for sale.
lilies, tulips, pussy willow branches
all cut and sitting in pots --
no roots.
no roots.
no roots.
echoes in my head.
so it is with me,
no roots.
that's me.

it feels to me
that stepping out today
would be to play the fool.
it feels to me
like stepping out today
would be frenetic --
that my soul would merge unwillingly
with the anger, the frustration and the screams of the city.
it feels to me
that i can't get my shields up.
it feels to me
that i am safer in the shadows.
maybe
i'm a fool
for feeling this way,
but for today,
or at least for now,
i'll wrap myself in the shadows
and emerge...
well,
"later!"
that stepping out today
would be to play the fool.

I've been a fool for love
and a greater fool for hatred
taking a page from the monarch's table
twisting my words into palliative fable
and watching the discord ensue
watching the castle turn blue
only to give me a clue
as if from above
as if labeled "sacred"
as merrily I dance
off a cliff called "romance"
yet gently on a cloud of laughter
I fall unscathed.

...Been comin’ home on Business Route 15—
a minute north of Maryland and six
more revolutions added on the miles
and Slippy Dippin’ on the left and pink
ambrosia spread across South Mountain like
a sunset to remember: April First—
and foolish if I’ve ever been, to hell
with wisdom. Rise up, Moon—the wisdom fell
away, away down south with Dixie thirst,
but Slippy Dippin’s skinny dippin’ strike
(its naked memories of business shrink
in rotten planks and broken pane bits) riles
the throat; my windows down, my speeding picks
up ev’ry bit of dust of lovely scene.

T. S. Mr. Elliot said it's the cruellest of months this April
The beginning of renewal on the land
Buds spring forth and take leave
The birds do chirp again
Fill the air with sweet songs
Is the cruel in disguise a joke
Are we the April's Fool then
Then again let's just be happy and foolish
Dance with joy to the season of April
The beginning of renewal on the land
Buds spring forth and take leave
The birds do chirp again
Fill the air with sweet songs
Is the cruel in disguise a joke
Are we the April's Fool then
Then again let's just be happy and foolish
Dance with joy to the season of April
