Hit 'n' Run

Post by Doreen Peri » October 10th, 2009, 6:04 pm

Alert! Alert!
It's another grand slam
hit 'n' run on the internet super highway.
Criminal behavior. Turn on the sirens!
Gonna be a high-speed chase 'til we
catch the culprit!

It's sorta like a drive-by shooting but
doesn't get as much media attention.

The hit 'n' runner
drives by and shoots
a poem out the window.
Never stops.
Kaboom! Kapow!
See? There's one now!

The hit 'n' runner is like
an opera singer.
You should hear 'em
warming up.

Me me me me me.
Me me me me me.

......

I'm boycotting all hit 'n' runners.
Not gonna read them any more.

hit and run
I would run and hit
I would post a complaint
and delete it because it seemed so cruel
You never know what someone else is going through
I myself am not in therapy
But I am careful of those that are
Sales is a lonely business
A man could get so glib he could lose his soul
My heart goes out to willy lomax

Hit and run is bad
nothing good to say about it
but all kinds of bad shit happens in this world
they say you can't blame it on god anymore
cause the devil makes him do it

I am a weak and powerless man
who was born to follow
but I marched to a different drummer
like a stray dog

I was not smiling
He should have seen it coming

Just letting off some steam. I'm over it now.

You're right, I don't know what others are going through. Everybody does it occasionally. We all do. Every now and then is fine but when it's totally predictable and it happens all the time, just seems like sometimes would be nice if they posted comments to other people's poetry, too. That's why I posted an announcement in the creative writing forum. Maybe I should make it a rule. Some sites have that rule. You have to reply to 2 poems every time you post one. Pretty restrictive, though. Nah, I could never make that a rule.

I'm just into give and take... into community. People want comments but some don't spend the time giving them to others. It's just one of those little stupid things that bothers me sometimes. It's really only a very small percentage of people who do this. MOST people participate and comment on others' work regularly!

I call it a hit 'n' run. A drive-by shooting. I thought those were sorta funny terms since this is the internet super highway.

Wrote a poem many years ago that included one of those... I think the drive-by shooting.... and never forgot it. Gonna find the poem and share it with you. It was 2000. I remember the poem distinctly. Should be easy enough to find.

Communicating on the net's tough. I like talking to you.
I've been wanting to tell you I likes the new painting today. I wasn't sure where to write it.
xo from me to you.

I'm probably gonna make this thread a casualty from the drive-by shooting hit-n'run on the internet super highway and delete it.

I mean, who the hell do I think I am?

What business is it of mine how other people choose to post?

if they don't want to comment on other people's work? That's their prerogative.

I should be grateful people even want to come to this place I created to share their works. They shouldn't be required to do ANYTHING.

I'm ashamed of myself.

Glad I got this out. I learned a lot from writing it down.

Be Here Now by Ram Dass et al.
I liked the brown pages most of all the ones with the art work.
One picture was of a book case and all the books had titles like
Me, More About Me, Me Continued, The Complete Book Of Me, something like that I will have to scan the page I am not doing it justice.

Everything is about me

"the only meaning the world has is how it unfolds for me" Kerouac quoted from geezer memory

I am not Kerouac. But I think there is truth in what he says. i try to be aware of that.

When people start telling me I sucker punched them and they don't use a winky or a smiley, I tend to take them at their word. I mean I feel like they cut me some slack on that.

Bastard. I wonder if it was my use of the word "bastard" that punched his ticket. That is about when I started feeling the hostility. My hostility maybe. Maybe it was a guy thing I doan know.
I disagreed with him about Pakistan and later changed my mind when I saw his point and I told him I had changed my mind. he never acknowledged that. Maybe he missed it.

I can carry a grudge for years.
I hate that.
But then I start seeing how the guy was right.
Some one called me an old fucking fool
another one said I was not patriotic enough
another one called me a Nazi
another one called me a racist
another one called me an idiot
so I figure they all can't be wrong.

Hiya Dame! Thanks very much! I like you too. I like talking to you. You are a very giving member of this community. You give your comments all over the board! And you're writing is good and intriguing! So happy to have you hear.

Sorry for the venting. Sometimes I have to vent. I was wrong. I was really wrong. I figured it out.

Soon this thread will self-destruct.

Yeah, it's not really healthy to stay pissed at people.

People call each other shit on the internet all the time and they never would do that if they were sitting in the same room.

Most people on the internet figure they'll never meet the people on the other side of the screen. And sometimes I really think they're angry at themselves when they lash out and call people names.

Just saying taking seriously what people on the net say when it's negative bullshit and holding a grudge is really not good for your health. I know this because I've gotten WAY stressed out by stuff that's been said on the net. So I'm just saying to you what I had to tell myself.

You're not a Nazi, a racist or an idiot. Sometimes maybe you're a fucking fool but aren't we all? LOL! :P

I've met a lot of people in person who I originally met on the internet but that's another story.

Why can't it be about me mr u? Huh? I like to get 'familiar' with things.
ok, it can be about you, though I might ransack it in two seconds flat
and add some dame to it. *wink*

Doreen, I think writing is like sex.
I'm not sure how else to comment after that. :P
I just know I'm fine with your being open.
Oh! Someday I'll get better acquainted around the board.

No, it wasn't about you, Jack.

It was about the drive-by shooters, the hit'n'run poets who shoot a poem out the window then split, only to come back to comment to the comments on their poem, and never... or rarely anyway... comment on anybody else's posts.

But as I said, who am I to judge how people want to use the internet? That's not my business.

Whatever posting style they want to use, that's their business, not mine.

The gaul of me!
