Migration of the Wild Geeks

Migration Of The
Wild Geeks
By
Richard Moylan Jr.
Every summer about the time college lets out a migration begins. The migration of the Wild Geeks. By the thousands, they leave the protection of their academic nests and head out into the open. Each one having his or her goal in mind and nothing can sway them from their destination. Knowledge and intelligence blindly drives them to their destiny. Few Wild Geeks actually make it into the wild for they prefer the metropolis, the hustle and bustle of city life. It is here that the Wild Geek can best use resources learned. Into the factories and industrial institutions they flock hoping to mate with a handsome paycheck and possibility one day ruling the world.
Late spring is the best time for Wild Geek watching. Only during their migration can one spot a Geek. Once they reach their destination they are rarely seen in public burying themselves in their work. It is quite easy to pick out a Wild Geek from all the rest. Their plumage is usually in full bloom. With all the signs visible, the square-rim glasses with tape on the bridge. The pocket pen holder with thermometer, high-water pants, white socks and belt pulled up past the belly button yes it is easy to spot one. If you’re lucky you might see one with a bow tie or suspenders however they are quite rare.
Eventually the Wild Geeks will grow into multi-millionaires settling in a west coast valley called Silicon and living to a ripe old age off of royalties earned from several inventions and innovations. I guess in a way, Wild Geeks do run the world.
