What it Is? OP OD

"What it is,?'
"What it ain't and what it will be."

that was always the greeting
OP and I exchanged

the morning he died
he had his usual breakfast
half a pint of Meyer's rum.

of course that was on top
of the tranquilizers and the
various stimulants

it was only a matter of time
till the paramedics
couldn't do their job

"What it is,?'
"What it ain't and what it will be."

The paramedic hit him seven times
on the way to the ER
couldn't get him to come around
he was lonely as only a poet can be
but he was greatly loved

"What it is,?'
"What it ain't and what it will be."

Glad you posted this Lightning Rod poem. He is missed-----I'm sure very emotionally by those close to him but even those who only know him thru the internet----here and Facebook, etc.---he had his own unique voice. His poems often touched the reader, sometimes made him/her think, sometimes he struck a mine ore of feeling.

His prose was often well-written and well-thought out too.
