I Want My Internet

tonight the cable connection went down
so I resorted to tequila and lemon with salt
but what is poetry if not the economy of words
a fabrication of the gristle and lard of life

tequila is golden if you pay enough for it
the lemon is tart and the salt, well....salty
but the sweetness of words
the sweetness of words is pure inebriation

I smoke a camel straight in anticipation
an inkwell of electrons and impulses
the vaporous creators of vision
I would write, even if there are no readers.

When the lemon is an empty rind
and the cuervo bottle is void and yearning
the saltshaker stares at me in drunken whiteness
I light another hump at midnight.

I admit it
I'm a junkie

when the connection went down
I got this wild look in my eye

it cripples me
I can't access my own work
I can't do research wifout me internet

i went through withdrawal
the shakes, the empty glaze need
the hunger without appetite
the scratching where no itch grew

i went through withdrawal
cable cold-turkey
teased by a momentary flicker
my clicking hand rigor mortis impaled
upon keyboard
(like a melted goodyear on a 110 degree patch of concrete)

i went through it
and now with cable back
and lit in LED pride
i don't give a flying shit
net don't speak my weary tongue

let Garcia do the talking
while i nod my bloodless beat
