this is a fine poem and has all the qualities that a 25 line poem should possess

based on past experience
it'll take around three months
for me to hate your guts
your neurosis will grind into mine
like a b-girl's hips
only without the stimulation
or the tawdry pleasure of her company
with her at least avarice overrides
the emotional - the psychological
it's purely a matter of give and take
economically speaking -
a deal on the up and up
but I wax abstract, so
for those who prefer
thecleartheconcisetheconcrete
I offer the following:
get bent
this is my poem
this is what I'm compelled to say
-- what's he trying to say?
-- he's got absolutely nothing to say!
this is my neurosis grinding into yours
it's always been that way
just because I invite you into my house
doesn't mean I want you to move in.
I drink my coffee black.

this was inspired by a proclamation on a bar of chinese soap. "this soap possesses..."

doreen, this isn't directed at anyone in particular except perhaps english professors i've had , and critiques that pissed me off. L-Rod, don't take this as a personal deal (as it is reminiscent of an earlier comment of mine on your poem)- hell man, i don't know you well enough to hate you! the chinese soap wrapper lingo just blew my mind. i posted it on pib after an ongoing debate on critiquing - to rile em up!

I didn't think it was directed at anyone in particular here, dino. :)

Good writing... I repeat! I've written what I think are some of my most powerful pieces when I was pissed off. Just sayin'.... there's something about being riled up that works in poetry and this piece works. Sometimes it takes an English professor, a chinese soap wrapper, a debate on critiquing... whatever it takes... to inspire good poetry. And this is good poetry. :)

ten four
schools out
must be my disease
that gives me unease
cause I never have anything to say either
but it never stops me from saying so anyway

nice work

Lrod--was that some kind of a subtle threat? That emoticon with the quivering upper lip makes me nervous.

jesus h christ
what's the word coming to
L Rod never uses emoticons

My most favoirte subtle threat I have ever read on studio eight came from a college professor to L Rod
"shut up or I will shut you up"

don't get much more sublte than that

poetry beats the hell out of me
black and blue
and red all over.

Bennie was your typical shrewd Jewish businessman.
