polly ethelina was her name
satisfaction guaranteed
she had cherry red lips
plasticine finished
foam injected
soft, tender
pleasing to the touch
and she doesn't cost much
an ingenious system
of micro hydraulics
servos and gyro-stabilizers
ensures that baby will rock
like a nympho on benzedrine
perhaps that would satisfy a lesser man
personally though, i expect more
and boy did they deliver!
dyson devised a vacuum function
that would toggle intake and out-take
according to insertion rate
sometimes, i forget to turn it off
and she rocks and gyrates
as if in a fit or seizure
it's pretty spooky
but i can't help watching

well, The War of the Newts was a book that came into my life when i was in my twenties, i hardly remember the book, but the title and the time it was written in, and the author, all hold some connection to me at a certain moment, a kind of pivot moment, as far as the connection with your poem, i'm thinking sexual awakening/the awakening of the sensual/the war of men and machines. Also the metaphor of relationships that makes our sexual lives into these strange mechanical encounters, but also where art enters into the picture, the advent of the computer, and robots that could become a replacement for a real body, all these ideas become a perhaps taboo subject that is good area for poets to explore. The spastic dance at the end of the poem.its all good! irony intact.
there is surely a measure of sadness that there can be a successful
business producing something that further alienates people from intimacy ..... perhaps these dolls fill a need, but after the real thing, it would be impossible for me to go in that direction...I'd prefer the company of Madam Hand to Blow-up Barbie....but here in the modern world, we have many choices.......many, many, choices.....well done, dino...

thanks saw. thanks too, rabbit - you're take is right on the money concerning most of what i intended to convey. of course, what the poem conveys is a two way street, but our streets are real close!

dino, i couldn't help but think of Polythene Pam form Abbey Road, especially the line, " she's so good-looking but she looks like a man."
come to think of it this whole stanza seems to fit your poem quite well,
Get a dose of her in jackboots and kilt
She's killer-diller when she's Jacked to the Hilt
She's the kind of a girl that makes the "News of the World"
Yes you could say that she was attractively built
Yeah yeah yeah
funny where a poem can take the mind...........
