lisa butterworth

Post by constantine » May 17th, 2011, 6:39 pm

nothing came of my submission
but i'm not surprised
poetry in academia -
they recognize what they teach
i'm an outsider, a swarthy intrusion
my capitals weren't capital
and my punctuation lacked a certain punctuality
all the winners were girls with anglo names
no surprise there - takes one to know one
lisa butterworth and abigail p. druthers
with boyfriends named todd equestrian
and grammies and paw-paws
and smores, brownies, and bran
they make me sick in a thousand different ways
this was only one of them

"what do they know about poetry?"

They know what they like, just like the rest of us. Unfortunately, most of them won't admit their guilty pleasures so someone like dinorino is doomed.
We should not mind if on our ear there fell. Some less of cunning, more of oracle...Thoreau
