it sits there, a cold fish-eye
what words could i possibly use
to satisfy, to fill its gaping maw?
in the belly of this ichthyosaurus
is a killing ground, a vast necropolis
fetuses swimming in formaldehyde
perhaps
they will resurface somewhere in the future
awaiting dissection, next to the pickled frog
careful, you've nicked the alimentary canal
hold it under water thusly, observe
the methane bubbling to the surface
even in error, knowledge can be gained

Re: paper trail
superb poem....our past is not only our time in this life, but a long string of of endless energy....and even the mistakes of this life are merely avenues of enlightenment when we move on to higher ground.....the past can be a teacher if we allow it, but should never be held over us to rue about.....we come to understanding in a myriad of experiences we often have little control over at the time.....but what do I know....ha ha

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
