used to sit across the table from him
be doing it right now if i knew where he was
we'd sit in the basement of his parents' house
they had died a few years earlier
he lived by himself with his dog
i believe his name was ferdo
we had both been given the boot by wifey
in no uncertain terms and in a most scandalous fashion
they kicked the shit out of us!
anyway, we would get high and goof around
he had this brass pipe that he got from some chinese joint
might have been the white rice inn or the china doll
the bowl was like an inverted coolie hat
and it held a ton of dope, but it got hot as fuck
there was a thick black rubber band around the middle of the stem
so you could hold the damn thing, and it would sizzle
like the soup you could get from the same chinese joint
so anyway, this girl we knew dropped by and we got loaded as fuck
she tried to give larry a shotgun and put her lips
on the red hot fucking inverted coolie hat bowl!
i could hear her lips sizzle like the soup you could get from
the same chinese joint that he got the bowl from in the first place
i think her name was mary beth, she was one of those hippie chicks
that had a strong opinion about everything, a proto-feminist
who liked to get high with the men she hated -
she loved animals though so i guess she was cool
to tell the truth, the image of her sizzling lips
the crackling sound of burning lip fat, has overpowered
any other memories i might've had about her,
to me, she will always be just another pair of blistered lips
i remember him remembering what his father said
"what do you want? a fucking three-ring circus?"
we both thought that would be pretty cool

What excellent look back and remembering things as they were kind of poem. Enjoyed the read.

nice walk back Dino...comical like those times... with nice emphasis on the characters and situations that bring it to life
