artful dodgers
los angelesers
six gun shooters
kit n kabooters
cawabunga
makes me hunga
for a change
wafting in the wind
like rin-tin-tin
circus clowns
felliniesque carouser
that one sad crying clown
no scaredy cat
but oh so sad
they could fit an army
into a VW
horse chasers
lion n tiger erasers
now I'm a rhymin fool
but I'm touching the jewel
even though I can't
give it a waylay
like coral or those pearls of parlay
Rock the boat
don't tip the boat over
be a word explorer
a jammer 8)

ya wake up in Seattle
but it will be emerald
when all is said and done
jam fizzling
or sputtering
the old jam concept
ain't what it used to be
what will be will be
like the Doris day song
went the way of the
old rockers I imagine
now we're down to a trickle
everyone eating at the table
with the bald head grinch
of words...grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
I dunno was a good run
so let me jam a bit

rain pourin
jack snorin
down Mexico way
spider tumbling
volcanos rumbling
beneath Malcolm's mountain
Li Po pointed at the moon
drunken frenzy
never enzy
before he fell in
hell of a sink or swim
watch out for Lucy
she's gonna cut loose
wind up behind the caboose
heading for never land
following the man
with a plan
and the ever afta
she just hasta
like the coming of dawn

My daughter moved to Seattle,
now living with her brother (my son)
who's lived there for many years.
I told her to bring a raincoat but
she didn't listen. She's getting drenched
and loves it, hoop dancing on cliffs
overlooking the ocean.
.
.

Everything that lives, dies, including
a jam, does it not? Hey, wanna give it
another shot? Invite your friends or even
your enemies if you want.
We don't discriminate.

...

My back hurts.
I had the feeling I'd get older and turn into my mother.
But no, I wasn't right. I am often my grandmother
predicting the weather with aches and pains.

....

Write another poem.
Pick another brain.
Welcome home.
Just the same.
Got your name tag on?

scraping the pebbles for a clue
a scrap of sock
a shard of sole

someone in the night
graffiti'd the wall
words everywhere

... yeah yeah yeah
beat beat beat
some days go 'ku hunting
return with only the wind
birds come into view
then go out of view
i mow the lawn
two days later
ten thousand dandelions appear
hurt & anger fueled words
hurled against a neighbor
running his mouth
and why ?
because he's an asshole
to hell with being cool
it feels good to rise up
and give it back
righteously in spades
and should the Lord gig me for it
i'll take the hit
no excuses
and that will feel good
too
because i'm finally too fucking old
for this shit
hell yeah, Mongolia

Showers come & showers go
Flowing water makes a go
Wind picks up on trees to blow
Then comes the calm.

Night is blustery, cloudy skies,
No stars that night,
Birds roost in trees
Then come the dawn of morning light.

We're tired of animosity
Want to show our love
Political season brings out the reason--
May is the month spring shines
Remember these are good times.

Worldly disasters on TV
Fractious politicians squabble
Our country needs compromise
Otherwise we're hobbled.

So I celebrate joy & the lifeblood of spring
Not letting blues overwhelm anything.
I keep smiling through the years...
Less muscles to smile rather than frown,
As we prepare to go shopping in town.
