those destructive thoughts
of past slights
injustice endured
loves betrayed
brooding
I pick at scabs
of old wounds
restless energy
grab the camera
and go
bushwhack
due south
sun to my two o'clock
and as I leave behind
the accoutrements of "civilization"
so too
does the dark cloak
fall away
with each step
the earth welcomes me back...
and in the embrace
of this living being
called a forest
my family
uncle hemlock
brother raven
friend chickadee
remind me again
what really matters

some nights
healing sleep
escapes me

monkey mind
needs a switch
(or a good spanking)

good thing
I have the space & time
for a nap!

...

So when you dream Spider Woman (the weaver of the Uni-verse) says to me:
"hang a dreamcatcher in your window
good dreams come thru the center,
bad dreams caught in my web"
Strangely enough, a dreamcatcher arrived unbidden in the mail recently...! Last night's restless, painful sleep means I need to hang it TODAY!

Words live or die by whim or lie.

Caesar might have been thinking this
right before passing
the Theatre of Pompey.

Or maybe it was a poet living somewhere
in Paris during the Reign of Terror.

acceptance of oneself
an escalator up and down
one moment going UP
the next stop bargain basement
(no bargain)

despair creeps in sometimes
through the cracks I see light
acceptance of me is easy
acceptance of the world
...takes work

Healers heal but dealers deal
death and destruction
take a card, spread a salve
smudge the evils
outta here!

Yesterday (Sept. 21) was Leonard Cohen's 81st birthday and his new album is coming out in October. He perceives a dark world badly in need of light and love. Here is a preview review for any that care to read and listen: http://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/20 ... ium=social

When does the cure arrive?
When will the healing be complete?
Is there some special elixir which
can win the recovery? When will
the struggling leave us be and allow
us to heal? I am certain good health
will not return via magic.

But I also know we must believe
we will mend in order to mend.

Send me your beliefs and I will send you mine.
I promise I believe you will be renewed.

stories aside
all the pain and grief aside
one moment of innocence

may the taste of purity
cleanse in and out
may the force of nature
from sky to ground
shower me clean

may the thoughts
dissolve into soft clouds
their wisps and whispers
pass with each new breath
one moment of weightlessness

I think the Jam is feeling ill.
The concept's old, perhaps,
I'm told. It could use some healing.
Jams have worked hard all their lives.
When they were young, they were on fire!
But now they're old and weak, it seems.
You think they should retire?
