The lady was a tramp and a vamp
I saved that butterfly postage stamp
in the book of rare oddities
how much like our own lives
are between these gossamer pages
pressed like a flower of farewells
all those perfumed veils of the enchantress
she moved behind as she removed them
one by one in a tempestuous dance
between deception and perception
until you did not if you were coming or going
more is less and less is more as she tore
your conception of her into bits and pieces
the closer she got the further away she was
as soon as you thought you knew her
the better she got at showing you did not
you will never open the book of her
and expect her to fall out like a gypsy moth
this one will only fly close to the flame to fan it
fan dance
