Banks of Consciousness

Post by mtmynd » August 2nd, 2007, 7:40 pm

bank of consciousness

happiness will not leave me
i feel abandoned by grief
and lies of ten thousand years
that have filled my eyes and ears

happiness will not leave me
i cannot believe in belief
that is built upon fabrications
choking joy with manipulations

happiness will not leave me
as i giggle with a fool’s grin
at the madness evolving slowly
against the batons of the holy

happiness will not leave me
for it has become my shadow
that is not cast in darkness
but built upon the everlasting

i am free from the bonds of depression
and merely wave my hand away at aggression
that seduces minds strengthen by fears
while i laugh from my belly full of beers

happiness will not leave me
with an empty look of confusion
as my spirit glows beyond confinement
ripping the lids off of defilement

no, happiness is my completeness
joy - the maidservant of my life
passion - the fuel that consumes me
bliss - the blanket the covers me

do i... should i
have other reasons to be?

page 185

"Infinite Tide" is 212 pages. Your work is represented in the book several times, both poetry and artwork. (ah but you knew that dintchya? ;))

I am making final edits today (small things like removing extraneous spaces, moving an image a fraction of an inch, etc.). Otherwise the book is ready!

I'm in process of selecting the production method. I ordered 2 proofs from Cafepress, one with perfect binding another with spiral binding. The spiral binding book is out. Really cheesy. The perfect binding book was nice but I'm not too hip on the color of the pages which are darker cream colored. I wanted white paper so the art and photography pops so I ordered another proof from lulu.com and I'm waiting for that one. If I like that one best, lulu also offers hard cover books so I will offer both if we use that service.

So.... you asked.... and now you have it. Sausage-making. ;)

I suspect I'll be able to announce the book by the end of next week (as soon as I get the lulu book and see what it looks like so I can make a decision).

Thanks for being part of this project, Cecil, and for keeping your banks of consciousness open for the long 8 months it's taken to get this together.

Dear Dor' - as you may well know time is a dimension in which i am wistfully trapped in (not unlike anyone else), so patience is my virtue.

the book sounds good. i favor the HB edition as i have a collector's mentality, but that could be easily dissuaded by cost. i've checked into lulu and liked their site. i may speak to you about the various roads you've taken (and eLRod) as you may be able to offer a shortcut that would appeal to me. my interest in assembling my own words could end up in volumes that would satisfy my own ego.

let us know the progress and i shall remain at ease.

As it turns out, lulu doesn't do this particular size in a hardback. But after people have the softback if there's enough interest, maybe I'll change the size for a second edition in hardback. We'll see. It's not all that cost prohibitive... would be a little more expensive, yeah.

As for shortcuts, well I don't know any other than to use these print-on-demand services rather than having to buy 1,000 books and try to figure out how to get rid of them. LOL!

Putting this one together took way too long, imo. If I could quit my job and start a service creating books, I could do them faster but no, there's the darn mortgage and all. sighh...

I'd love to own an Mtmynd book one day. ;)
