On the passing of a friend

Post by mistertroll » August 12th, 2007, 10:13 am

Many times I've been a fool
But sometimes a savior
Oh, but it's the impurities
That give life its flavor
And if we find it's time to pay
The prices of our sins
Let us hope that we can say
We'd do it all again

I see you hangin' by a thread
To this mortal shape
I almost wish it was me instead
Preparing to escape
To come to peace-that sweet release
We love and fear so much
To submit and ascend-to see the end
And feel eternity's touch...

how very bizarre Mtroll
just before I read your very nice piece
I was fooling with my morning muse
and the subject of my meditation was this:
When people who are part of your life, those who have known you and been through adventures with you and seen you grow and change......when those people die, you lose a piece of your history. That's why funerals are for the living and not the dead. The dead don't care. They're dead.

Anyway, I call all my dead friends my Pips
they stand behind me and do the oohs and ahs and snap their fingers
and do the fancy step where they whisper in my ear: "You're livin' for me now."
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

amen to them all. this is sweet--not sugary; tender--not mushy; gentle--not weak. amen.

Thank you.

It's always rewarding when others "catch my drift".

As I mentioned in a pm to Lrod, this all came in a stream-of-consciousness flow at about the time she was actually passing from this world to the other. I felt like a channel of thought and emotion as it revealed itself.

In her last days, she described me as her "best friend". I sincerely hope I was deserving of that title.

I´m trying to think if there is an equivalent or something like that in the coloquial language in spanish for passing in this context... mmm

Pips as good a word as any
She is always gentle on my dreams
And I never wake up from a dream of her
with a feeling of despair.
