Afterlife

Post by saw » May 23rd, 2008, 8:09 am

I never take a woman home
that I met ten minutes ago
in a dive like this unless she
uncrosses her legs like Sharon Stone

and blows menthol smoke in my face.
Nor was I comfortable trying to drive my car
with a probing wet tongue in my ear, but
I was pleased that I can adapt so quickly.

When you excused yourself to freshen up
I never expected a she-devil outfit,
the red lacy bra, the skull cap with horns,
the plastic pitchfork you prodded me with.

I thought only the soul brothers
still smoke Kools and costume shops
were only open around Halloween
but a guy I work with says,

"Fredericks of Hollywood has all that shit, man."
And if this really is Hell,
then maybe
I've been worrying about nothing.

Afterlife
Excellent title
I don't know if envy is praise
but I wish I could write like that.

I am also very happy you found your way here
