The Passion of the Virgin

Post by e_dog » September 3rd, 2004, 11:53 pm

Let's say you've married a rather dull but dedicated guy who doesn't quite turn you on sexually. He works a lot with his hands and you don't like the feel of them on your smooth soft, skin, say; or maybe you had some traumatic memories of watching your parents copulate in the moonlight. Anyway, one day you meet a wonderful breathtakingly handsome young Roman soldier, who just happens to be the oppressor of your people. He is sweet at first, courting youwith subtle remarks and gestures. You hide the affair from your family. One day his polite nature is overtake by a drunk wildman side, and he tries to take liberties. You resist but he is much stronger and carries a sword. a few months later you realize you are carrying the child of this Roman rapist.

here comes the dilemma. you have to explain to your hubby how -- even though you resfuse to consumate the marriage with him -- it is that you are carrying a child. man are irrational and it is a patriarchal society so he might be expected to blame the victim rather than the perp. Besides what can be done to gain justice when the Romans are runing the show? You always had a rather extravagant religious zeal, as does your husband, so you rather rashly concoct a crazy story about being impregnated by God. after all, a happy God is better than an angry God. your husband is no fool, but we all know how people wil believe anything if it preserves their ego against grevious injury. So he buys into it. You start telling your neighbors at the baby shower that the kid is the son of God. Word gets out, so even strangers start bringing all sorts of exotic and useless gifts. Being a religious fanatic doesn't pay very well, nor make you popular in new towns, so you have trouble finding a place to stay one night well into the end of the third term. You and hubby end up squatting in a barn on the night of the baby's coming.

(think about it, a drawn out film Mel Gibson- style, graffic shots of childbirth, conception, you name it. melding porn and vision like the passion of the Christ did it for gratuitous violence!)

This is very believable and I for one would love to see a movie that suggested this possibility.
It could change the world!
