roots of the poet tree

Post by saw » August 9th, 2011, 9:48 am

hidden in the loam
there are limericks
washed by ancient rain blended
with the lime of the iamb and the anapest

there is a earthy pattern of growth
stamped and stomped on
by metrical feet, they march
the holy cadence of rotting poets

sure double dactyls are sexy
can be satisfying like a cigarette afterward
but it's okay to follow along the pathways
don't feed the grizzlies, don't pretend

the rhetorical structure of a sonnet
doesn't turn you on, don't tell me
even your most dreadful rhymes
don't satisfy some inexplicable pleasure
when you are alone and needy

you're a poet
like it or not
it's a strange community of misfits
trying to glimpse, perhaps gaze upon
the ultra-rare darting pollinators
of personal truth
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

love this- poets bones= like your writing-always have= this one is pretty real- like that.
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

Loved it all!

especially this line

"by metrical feet, they march"

this brought it all to life...

thanx kai.....aaah yes budapest., of course, and how about the following:

Bodhisattva
would you take me by the hand
Bodhisattva
would you take me by the hand
can you show me
the shine on your Japan
the sparkle of your china
can you show me ........

I've been considering the implications of that for years with no obvious conclusions.........but it sounds profound...eh ?.......ha ha
