twilight zone bongos

Post by revolutionR » March 30th, 2017, 11:24 pm

first you hear the twilight zone bongos
then the bullets ring out and Kennedy is killed
beatniks are at their height jazz shadows
in the American empire waning night

science fiction paper back book covers
float thought our imaginations
television eye invasion
teachers dirty looks
hot rods and hodads
decals and rat finks
man on the moon coming soon

Kerouac on the Steve Allen show
sputnik spud guns and hula hoops
the fifties made the sixties look cool
Ginsberg and Dylan don't look back

surf is up LSD in Life magazine
hippies about to arrive on the scene
CIA sneaking around Hollywood
another fake war on the horizon
poets finding their groove
bohemians on the move

Beatles make young girls cry
young men go to Vietnam to kill and die
America's dark night was ramping up
9/11 was still many years away

nice synopsis....new ideas certainly challenged the status quo in surprisingly fresh ways...the stiff two drink lunch and the Beave replaced by new drugs and new music...spoken word...there was upheaval in conventional thinking
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
