more stories from the convenience store

Post by Terri » April 6th, 2017, 3:58 pm

i walk in and -
i should read his name tag
but i keep forgetting

rooster guy he used to have a fauxhawk
and is too smart for his job
crows hey! your credit card!
yes i say i got it

i found that! did you
see how that was packaged
up! i did that!
thanks i say

there's a line
he was yelling over their heads to
tell me that
this kid needs a mom and i'm not it

while rob't redcheeks the security guy
is off to the side
i don't know his name either
or why he's there on a weds dayshift

haven't seen you in a while i say
nope they''ve had me over the west side
oof you'll have some stories then i say
already got a bunch he says

and i get to the register
can i buy you a couple packs of cigs or something?
as thanks? you - i could've really been in a mess
you saved me a whole lot of trouble

no rooster guy says
smile when you come in
this is just what i do

wish he could hear himself
this is just what i do

good to hear from you terri...there is so much going on...love the conversational tone, that gets to the heart of the matter...a fine slice of americana....people doing their best...neither good nor bad...it just is
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yes, I can picture it all quite well. "Fauxhawk"-- nice. Why haven't I heard that one til now? I thought I was all hip and stuff...
