everything is hiding from everything else
the windows are hiding from the doors
the floors are hiding from the ceiling
the moon hides from the night

the night hides from the day
the fire hides from the water
the wind hides from the earth
the flower hides from the world

right hides from wrong
longing hides from feeling
jazz hides from the meaning of
reality hides from surreality art
the song hides from the music
the poem hides from the words
the words hide from the poets
sometimes they show themselves
like fairies in the woods
and then hide behind the trees

the birds hide in the sky
everything hiding from everything
language tries to hide from itself
or that is how it seems

So true. The human world increasingly walls itself off from nature in general ... Not sure if this is the scene you're painting here, but it's the first thing that came to mind.

Donno, just try to get into the mind of the poem.Nature is at the center of that.

i've been thinking of this one since you posted it
and i hear you
but my mind persistently wants to replace 'hides' with 'shines'
i'm NOT suggesting you do that, no

maybe both make sense on different days

Nothing is fixed, make it your poem. I guess I was riffing off of hides
thinking of the phrase Nature loves to hide, by the Greek philosopher
Heraclitus.
