How to Live Free

How to Live Free

it was too much of... a beautiful day
and she was too much, the beautiful girl...
she carried too much love in her... young soul,
and she will be too long missed, from our world~

and there will be too much to say
of her giving spirit, and of her goodwill...
it is too easy remembering her... in a smile,
yet so hard to understand, a bidding of farewell~

and it would be too much to ask
to know the burdens that she has borne...
but it's not to hard to see, past Kaitlin's mask,
way down to the source of her light... of her love~

and could it be only, too simple a task
she gave in excess of herself... to us all...
it's too clear now, she knew how... to live free,
so it's not too much, to love everyone, as we are~

I lost my niece Keri at age 22, and I still grieve the loss most every day...her photos are everywhere ....so I won't forget i guess

beautiful ode,.. heartfelt eulogy to a special life
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

tough times saw, you know.

I showed this poem to some of the family tonight.
It's not my family, but I've known and loved, worked
and partied with them, 25 years of history with them...

And we are family though, really. I've trusted my life
with some of them at times. I was glad to be there
with them, nearly every day for the past week.

What makes this a bunch more is, her mother, Tina,
was also life-flighted away right after the funeral
dinner. I helped load her in a truck and they went.

Multiple organs shutting down and whatnot... But
they got them all going again. Oddly, there was a
comparable liver already there... they thought it
was going to be needed and even called in the
transplant team.

It's better to not transplant if you don't have to.
Still, it's her second chance on life now.

Kaitlin passed in the ICU, intestinal complications,
and a long battle with cystic fibrosis... she passed
easy though.

Thanks man, and my sympathy to you too.

I'm not expecting anyone to touch this.
We all know this thing.
But I will say thank you all just the same.
The feelings go deep, but I embrace them completely,
