warm bricks and cold beer

Post by saw » May 3rd, 2017, 1:49 pm

the exposed bricks
in my house are warm

like a temperament

reds, browns, salmons
they are well over a hundred years old
some have burn marks from
the baking ovens...
they are calming

in the same manner as a hug

earth tones that strike the notes
comfort and longevity, the mortar
is the cement highlight
that frames the picture
they are simpatico

it was a hell of a lot of work
removing all that plaster. but
when you are a twenty something
you're an idealist with crazy ideas
and plenty of energy

ingesting dust in every orifice
was nothing that would stop me

so pleased I followed through
one wheelbarrow after the next
into the borrowed dump truck
over the two planks on the porch
into the bed of the Mack....
couldn't have done it

without all that ice cold beer
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

thanx mingo and mark.....I've owned this place for 42 years....was always set up as two apartments...that was done in the 40's with real plaster and full sized 2x4's when they converted the basement to living space and added a second floor kitchen. i moved away for a little while and my son occupied each of the apartments at different times....and I've had my share of random tenants...but I'm back for good this time...last stand will be made here.....
it's kind of crazy looking around the place at my twenty something self....

ahhh, beer, the wonder bread of booze itself that crosses every needless border of the world, what hu'man does not enjoy the beauty of the brew... it so satisfies not only the palate but the very soul of life itself... and this ponch I carry with me. ;)

Write on, Steve.
