is like following time, the hike
is the only thing that is real
century mists swollen with argon
trees long in the tooth and me
a pebble with eyes and a soul
and a bottomless heart, I feel
almost normal here
like I should have been a gray squirrel
or striped chipmunk
and they never run away , they come
to me, and I coo birdtalk back,
my cousins of the woods are here for me....

the aroma of forest soup
simmering in the sunshine, and I
have come with my own bowl and spoon

who in their right mind
wouldn't love a warm
bowl of forest soup..?
