a day of steel light
the color of green wood
trying to burn a circle
in an aura of rock
you know the scene
down in the holler
mixed dandelion tea and rum,
rocking chair poetry
moody blanket
covers my perceived soul
smoky retrospective
pushes me inward
to the places I don't visit
anymore, preferring the sun
to toast my ears and elicit
my heart to smile
black and white
mixes in the proper proportions
to look for love
words with shared meaning
forgiveness
empathy
perspective
whatever
it's no piece of cake....
mining is a dirty job...
your lungs fill with melancholy
your heart pumps tears
old dear friends
passed to the other side
make you take a look
at your murky memories
that may or may not be
the way it happened, have I
simply imagined it all ?
should I believe in something
that comes with a book
and songs of praise to iffy robed men
should I be afraid, have I missed
all the clues....why why why
must a man always believe
there is more...is it that drive
that makes him try a little harder
to understand a stranger

If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

Re: random contemplation
Belief is not easy. Or Maybe it's too easy- if some higher power is going to "save us" from (sin, enemies, lack of stuff- fill in the blank). I do find it easy to NOT believe in the religion of hyper-materialism and corporate (and military) worship that has gripped this country and much of the world...
