Christmas 2000 and Something

Post by mnaz » December 25th, 2022, 9:28 pm

Jesus was born in a barn,
or so said the sacred texts,
then he became something
else not entirely explained.

Listen to the classics.
King of kings, oh man
we love kings of kings,
cults of power after all,
took Godforsaken land
and made it better.

No politics or religion.
Don't talk politics with
Uncle Ken at Christmas.
At first I didn't understand
but now I do, clear enough,
politics is the AntiChrist.

I can't breathe Breath One
without some mercenary
dancing on graves, you got
two choices, either or.

But that's more than most,
so the company grinds on,
spitting, inducting, you got
two choices, in or out.

Politics is the poison, a
drunken uncle at Christmas,
nothing at all to do with history.

Ya
Good point
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

This is one of those poems that I swore would have at least a hundred lines, but maybe it's done for now. I had so many ideas but didn't write them down as they popped ... Started the day listening to Sinatra, Bing and Nat King Cole singing Christmas tunes, old tape I found... probably what set me off.

I'll see your "evolution" and raise human nature.
I'll see your "progress" and raise natural greed.

Those dead-end brick walls, every time
