Zen Driving
I will teach him to drive if it kills me
tweaked testosterone
haiku fearfull me
the appearance of things as they are
god is a door knob
rabbit darts
he swerves the wheel
perfect chance to teach
calm
slow motion
slight movement
three days no sleep
I know his night vision is shot
let him drive
sooner or later
life or death
prepare him
icey slicey feeling in gut
I ride it out
can I save him anything

bunny rabbit trail
two lane road new mexico
steered around them all

a thousand rabbbits
so wired on caffiene i jumped
not a single crunch
so we wind down this dark twisting dipping farm to market road, I been waiting for it to happen, his startle reaction when something jumps out in front of him, we all ready done the bit where he drops a front axle tire off the edge of the pavement onto the grass, I prepared him for that, no brakes immediately ease of the gas, nothing radical just move the steering wheel about a billionith of an inch and ease back on the road.
But the small animal darting through the headlights I knew there was no substitute for experience, so naturaly when the rabbit darts from right to left he jerks the wheel way to the left, all the way over to the other lane we have crossed as I shout "Dont Do That!" he settles down. Haiku I got no haiku but I abuse this board anyway
this morning
red cloud
no red patch of open sky in cloud cover as if the fields reversed forground and back ground, then the red rim of the sun shows in opening. my biggest joy these days is to see the sunrise. a haiku jam
