I guess I could play it safe
keep a leash on the unruly mind
that always wants to write exactly
what it is thinking
I suppose I could rein in the profanity
put the kibosh on the flicking tongue
that has no governor, is all honesty
lost in reservations ?
editing is all fine and good
I do it often, under the pretense
of making it all a little more presentable
for public consumption, believe me I worry
that I've left something important behind
in the snippets on the killing floor, is truth
being sanitized by guilty methodology
I sure feel cleaner bathing in the determination of the stream
it's ripples and whitewater never quite the same
no matter how long I stand on the banks peering into the water
trying to match geometric patterns, they never reappear....
