The bridges I must cross.
Without bridges travel would require a boat.
In 1890 boats were the main source of transportation around here.

like a bridge over troubled...
Is one of those pictures the old James River bridge near Norfolk? There used to be a two lane bridge over that river. Spectacular head on collisions used to happen there. The girders on the top would slope down to the sides so that trucks had to hug the center line to avoid hitting them. Then they made the trailers six inches wider. Man the were horrible head on collisions.
It seems my mind is never far from the road.
I loved that bridge at the mouth of the bay
No land in sight
Driving across the open sea
It used to break my heart with joy
Catch my breath with beauty

There is a street in Norfolk that goes down hill to the waterfront. There is a battle ship moored at the bottom. It towers up like a skyscraper. One hell of a view when you top that hill. If I could live anywhere I wanted it would be tidewater Virginia or the eastern shore of Maryland. Or Morro Bay California. Ilwaco Washington. And the Shenandoah Valley was beautiful too. I would settle for Port O’Connor Texas. I hope I hope.

I know of the battleship in down town Norfolk but I can't for the life of me picture a hill in downtown. It is quite flat there.
