Always have a hard time plowing through Bill's books....but in the end it always seems worth it...

I agree. I read this about a year or two ago, when I finally got a chance to buy a bunch of "beat" books and have time to read them. The one part I couldn't get over was how he said something along the lines of he thought he was healthier becuase of junk. Anyway, the book was as good as everyone ever said it was, with all its adventures and imagery. I felt like the book was a good warning against junk, but I dont know if that's really what Burroughs intended..

Bill Burroughs is not an easy read, but Everest isn't an easy climb. I've read Junky a few times and his other works, even the weird Naked Lunch. I would recommend the book to anyone wishing an insight to drugs and life of the takers even if they already know the scene.
