i'm slowly eaking out (or is it leaking out) a living. It's been almost 2 weeks of shaving off empathy and soulful counselling while attempting to impart solid study habits and a bit of a development in language learning.

my heart bleedeth over.
there's been the usual tragedy and miracle.
Tragedy consisting of a colleagues son being wounded on a Ferry accident near Phuket, Thailand. He pushed his girlfriend out of the way of a propellor and he, got his own leg caught. He's lost part of his foot. There's an Israeli doctor about to land in a Bangkok hospital to try to save the rest of his foot and calf.
Tragedy consists of a memorial for a student who committed suicide.
Tragedy consists of a loss of motivation for many kids who have managed to sneak through school on social skills, copying and emergency tutoring sessions.

Miracles. Thinking of miracles. Another colleage who was suddenly befallen with agressive lymphoma went through 2 marrow transplants and the second one seems to be holding. She's back this year to teach. She's made it still smiling these past 2 weeks, teaching 2 classes.
Miracle. My son is back at home, playing soccer with a team down south instead of in the centre of the country. No more dorm life. No more bizarre, low level school life. He's home.
Miracle. I've got 2 kids at home. My 2 kids in the U.S. are alive and living their lives.

It's almost New Year's Day. Wednesday sunset is the onset of a new year. and with that comes my personal hope that i'll settle into a balance of giving and receiving. My intentions will be felt. My encouragement will find a nice warm seat in someone's heart. i'll be good to me. i'll eat my brewer's yeast to add nutrition to my rushed yogurt food breaks. i'll learn to enjoy the stars not just this week, but all year long. i'll remember that night time walks are magical solitary fill-me-up times.

happy new year.
Shana Tova.

happy (early) new year, judih

May hope commence as quickly as a tomahawk
of meteor-befallen sky
and peace as surely as a hatchet lost
beneath the eventides of desert dunes
and joy as purely lush as citrus groves’
geometries of color’s freshest scent
and love as necessarily as life—
and may this be the end of fear, of strife,
of any form of force explosive spent
on any thing but fireworks. May loaves
be shared, may wine be drunk. May every moon’s
new day give way to safest light. May frost
turn water for the earth, may tears be dry
and voices bravely pray: —ברוך אתה

Happy New Year... many blessings to you and your family. Miracles, indeed! Thanks for the report. Much love to you, your kids at home and away ... and sending healing thoughts to your colleague... sounds like a miracle for sure!

Sorry to hear of the tragedies... so sad the suicide. .. :( Accidents happen... could be way worse.. very sorry.

Bring on the New Year miracles!

calm center
mothers are heroes
not to be taken for granted

it's always possible.
there's always this moment to exploit to its full.

Just saw a video clip of a girl from Vancouver addressing the Congress in Brazil. She was asking adults to stop 'breaking' the earth at the least if they can't find a way to fix it.

Her beautiful moving speech is a plea for a new year, a new thought, a desperately driven plea for turning around foolishness in a 'it'll all be okay' kind of who-cares way.

mothers do for kids. Kids do for the future.
let's stop breaking and start fixing.

thanks, jim
i'd forgotten about this message. good to hear and good to have a reminder.
