One of the central tenets of Buddhism, is the denial of a separate permanent "I", and is outlined in the three marks of existence. The three signs: 1. Duḥkha (Pali: Dukkha) - Suffering, 2. Anitya (Pali: Anicca) - Change/Impermanence, 3. Anātman (Pali: Anatta) - Non-self. At the heart of Buddhism, is the realization of no "self" or "I" (and hence the delusion) as a separate self-existing entity.

Re: The New Rome
What? that's why I could never take Buddhism serious. If "I" is just a delusion just who did God mean when he went lookin for Adam in the garden by saying "Adam, where are "you "Have you eaten from the tree I told you not to?"
I mean just who was God referring to by you? Was he talking to a delusion?

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Re: The New Rome
God is just another word
I been feeling spooky about it for quite a while now.
No doubt I believe
I just can not say that word and mean it.
So I whimp out when I write it as G d
Delusion or illusion
I think about Buddha as the patron saint of Jack Kerouac, if he was good enough for Jack he is good enough for me
The future of my illusions looks pretty grim, I smoke a cigarette and think about putting a gun to my head.
Beyond the pleasure principle death beckons
I think I will have a happy Christian death
I will slide on other to the other side
where my true love waits for me
but lordy I hope that this I, this me that sits and writes, that has a social security number, and much vanity, I hope I will leave that all behind me.
A New Rome Cont.
America the uncanny
a kinder gentler empire
than Rome
a band of brothers of the brand
We all want to do our patriotic duty
Visigoths and Puerto Ricans too
what does victory look like anywhere
does it ever look like peace
is it good for the bottom line
gamble with a ramble
the protestant work ethic
and the relief of man's estate.
