Scenic Route

Scenic Route

I was going to take the direct route from
the protection of covenants to the forgiveness
of fragmented misconceived sins,

but I decided instead to drive the
unmapped highway, intermittently taking breaks
at rest stops where I could buy bottled tap water
with some indescript company's name on it
for two bucks which might have been better
invested in charity. It was a slower route,
but I found myself enjoying the scenery.

I am reinventing myself from the
inside outside in, developing escape
plans in case the doubt of my surroundings
doesn't jive with the permanence of the
circumference of a new idea.

Reinvention is necessary, despite the
re-occuring theme of a wheel which was previously
round not being important enough to recreate
so I will state this again since I am you
just as you are me –

We need to free ourselves from paved highways.

I decided to take the gravel trail between
fragmentation and discovery and once I set foot on it,
I felt you walking beside me, your ghost believing in mine
and soon we arrived at the bridge I couldn't cross
without holding your hand and when you led me
to the underpass, I gasped, so very completely aware
of the impermanence of a new afternoon,
you following my lead to swim head-on into
the current.

And because of all that,
we're both on the other side
of where we were when we first
started out.

So often on my scenic routes
I feel like the deer in the headlights
and not the motorist gasping by
in a flurry of hurry to nowhere

sometimes I am a touch of the both
driver and hit and run driven

Shall we tour the scene in unicorn
I'll watch out for pot holes in the road
and maybe we can toke one together!
The pot...not the one seat corn.

Get it? Of course you do. Sister my sister.

Petals to the metal.
I used to walk with my head in the clouds but I kept getting struck by lightning!
Now my head twitches and I drool alot. Anonymouse
