Texas Canyon

Some pictures taken 2.08.10 at the I-10 rest stop in Texas Canyon which is in east Arizona. After taking a lunch break, (which we had picked up at Trader Joe's in Tucson), I took a walk and snapped some pics. It was around noon so the light is intense in some shots.

I don't know the history of this area and why there are so many large, make that HUGE, boulders scattered around with many stacked up as if by human intervention. A fascinating place and one we always stop at when traveling thru.

terrain that screams for imagination to fill in details
yet so powerfully silent

Indeed, judih... there is a silent power within that captivates even the most casual viewer. Much of the area within the rest stop is closed off by chain link fencing... some say a recent addition. It does keep the occasional 'graffiti commando' or someone declaring their love for another away from the natural beauty of the place.

Thx to Doreen, this link is more accessible. I was telling her that I only recently (well, September, but I kept forgetting about it! ;)) came across the site while perusing the general board. Ardadia's travelogue was/is really good... always nice to see the environments others here live in.

Later, judih.... and thank you!
