too lush, never too much

And the boredom
reeks with deceit,
seeps into the air
where the window
opens to the garden,
a smug, unsubtle odor,
eases in and lurks,
the stench of an open
garbage can which
no fan can clean,
and the sound of
gnashing teeth
complete with an
ordinary grin as if
it knows something
within a universal
truth I'll never be
privvy to.

What to do?
Spring comes new
but the boredom is
a slick trick liar,
fire burning in a
yearn so thick
it looks like smog.

I will pace,
trace my fingertips
on maps with no
direction signs,
find a seat on a
bench somewhere
where the stench
cannot reach my nose
and so will go
the night,
lights never out,
the shouts of whispers
asking why creeping in
again, daybreak coming
without a wink.

Ennui, satiety from fecundity,
Booming blooming spring
A spring which began in the
Dead of winter,
Latest episodes of hailstorms,
High winds, signs blown down,
Garbage cans strewed through
Streets of the 'hood...
***
We'd try to control the weather
If we could--
Weather has a split personality
This season & it continues
It's psychotic episodes...
Eighty-five degree heat
Instead of being fifty-five,
Tornadoes instead of snow,
Winds blow & torrents flow,
Creeks become rivers...
***
We are walking on icicle slivers
Those marbles from the skies,
Some were as big as softballs,
Continue to irk us with the fecund breezes,
Causing many hay fever sneezes,
The rains ease up the pollen,
Bring out the mold...
Slime mold, slime mold,
Just loves prolonged heat & damp
Crawls up the drain pipes,
Slips over the window ledges,
Wends its way into the kitchen sinks
Overwhelming the "Mr. Clean",
So we collectively get out
The chlorine bleach cleaner
Pour it down the drainer
Along with "drano", other
Super cleaners--
***
Mold grows feet & climbs back
Out the windows...
Then we collapse in our langour
Upon couch pillows into torpor
Easing naps or snooze,
Edging into daydreams
Of ice teas, finger sandwiches
Carry-Out dinners to
Save on gas prices...
Hot sandwiches delivery arrives
To comfort the spring cleaning wearies...

no more back stabbing
no more slit throats
so enlightened I am these days
I have not reached into my pocket for a knife in many many moons
But "I am still drunk and dirty
and I see my pretty Alice in everyhead light"
I did take off my glasses the other day as I prepared myself for a struck cheek

Still bluesy
still woozy
still crazy
still me
and you are you
and we are all so unigue
except I got no poetry in me
just dreams of "peace between my brothers and sisters"

gotta go catch a bus
don't be a stranger
keep in touch
and don't let the devil steal your joy
"take away my joy take my sorrow", take my suffering take my anger
"give me bitter fame"

If April is for some the cruelest month
March in San Antonio may be the kindest month
A happy old man searches for his bellybutton of joy.

"Silver & gold, silver & gold, friendships are like silver & gold..."
Like vitamins, too, I've been told,
"Vitamin F" can't be sold...
***
"Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other gold" ...
"Make new friends, both young and old, one in Silver, the other Gold." ...
"Make new friends but keep the old, some are silver and others are gold" ...
"I 've a hand, and you've another; put them together and we have each other." ... May cooperation bloom this Spring...
S/he ain't heavy, s/he's a sister or brother...
May war pass us over... :)
