.....feeling the mountains, beneath the mountains that are more like big hills. Li Po drank his wine and wrote his verses in exile after choosing the wrong side. I have at times been on that other side myself, knowing there is another other side looming.

......so many written words.....words said too...choosing words wisely is perhaps one of the most important rules to adhere to in life....Li Po chose his wisely.

As if in a dream I wander. the streets outside full of saturday gawkers, me in search of dinner.
A day into night world, full of predictable conversation, yet filled with so many surprises. Most times I feel it's better to stay in one spot while i'm out. It always comes to me in time, a friend or aquaintence with news, good or bad. Li Po drank his wine and watched the moon traverse the evening sky, feeling the rabbit all the time.

....Li Po sits at the bar, Sunday noon drinking Garden Martinis, swallowing olives. His mind on ravens as the mountains loom above the crossroads of history. Who will win? Will he place a bet on the game? Perhaps he won't even watch the proceedings. Looking for readers, even a smile in response, he continues to tap the keys as the leaves turn & season changes.

Li Po sits by the river bank
he writes
sips wine
sips some more
mountains loom
like sentinels
overhead
he writes
and sips
fills his glass
some more
clouds come
mountains disappear
he sips
he writes
he wonders
then he sips
some more

he waits
he wanders
landscapes unfurled beneath the unfulfilled
hopping on box cars
before
they were even box cars
like he knew they would be
when they werent
his father a pillar of society
him too
but that was before he met Dottie Snow
beautiful but prone
to flights of fantasy
Li Po would just wander out back, bottle of wine in hand and observe the heavens.....

(thanks mingo)

luna
moon
celestial
shadows
always shadows
for company
a bottle of wine
downed
called to the emperors court
blitzed
cold water shower
sobered
brush in hand
composing love poems
for the queen
the king accompanying
him on flute
the night saved
eunuchs sweating
Li becoming court poet
he preferred the mountains
lost beneath the moon

.....he sat down, back aching, a minor thud.....sade singing, "i wouldn't do that"....time ticking, 7 minutes till the cafe opens, needed coffee bliss. A lonely guitar plays out across the day. We wait, we always wait and look forward to......slap! .....wake up! it's all in the now....yet the clock moves, the scent of bacon beckons....her voice like an angel...."cherish the day"

....old Li wanted to be a major player at court & all it got him was a eunuchs foot up his ass and exile to the far hills beyond the pleasure palace. He found solace in a wine bottle, composing some of the most poignant verses ever translated by western tongues.
....I for one continually channel him, especially when i'm into one of those u say tomatoe i say tomatoh with vodka modes....a little example below>>>>>>

his was a short, mine was long....grasping the everlasting beneath said mountain....a beaurocrats tool being mind and a bottle, an ability to look beneath the sheets.....he knew not to piss off the eunuchs and the concubines but he never the less did....

exile......the word conjures many illusions.....to be banished, sent away.....backs turned on you, not knowing how long you must endure the isolation. Li made the most of it and the wine merchants prospered. The world prospered, for it is/was the simplistic mystery of his words that laid the foundation for modern creativity. My exile was a beginning, or what one might call a second chance. Full of sadness indeed, but at the same time as the wire unravelled a new and stronger man emerged.

that strength came rolling
down the river like a wind that had no direction
peaceful poetry siezed his heartbeat
with a blissful smile and fat happy face
he says' wireman, it is always a pleasure'

......old Li laid back in front of the fire.....visions of butterflies roamin round in his mind....snappin and cracklin fire, flames dancing into the night. At the edge of the forest where the dark meets the light a lone deer stood hypnotized by the scene. Above a universe of stars revolved and glittered throughout the night. li's new buddy Too loose had just returned from his home in France bringing several bottles of monks champagne. Needless to say old Li was turned on to the max, writing some of his all time classic verses that night whilst Too loose drew the scene with his pastels. They ended the night roasting dogs over the fire and smothering them in the grey poupon Too loose brought back along with bubbily. A memorable night indeed.
