Invasion Etiquette

Beat down.

So now the numb digits are returning...
hundred-thousand, two, perhaps six-fifty-k...
dead from the incessant winning of hearts and minds.
oh how to save the liberated from liberator
who never thought to ask...

May Gods deliver us from "liberation" at the hands of the convinced.

"The best lack all conviction,
The worst are full of the most passionate intensity . . ."

I've been thinking about that Yeats line for a couple years now, ever since perezoso posted that poem here (I think it was here) in some kind of code, and I figured out how to decode it. Great, great line, and chilling, to me.

Liberation is after all in the mind of the liberator...Lenin liberated the russians ...Castro the Cubans...and Bush has liberated the whole damn Middle east...Hell I'm havin a hard enough time liberating myself...tonight I found it very liberating to smoke a cohiba and drink a beer....
