it's not too unusual
everything leads to decadence
you can rock & roll
& look what happened to that
even the mountains are blowing away
we all got holes where people once been
every one of us looks like
gutshot shot up flags after awhile
flappin in the breeze
but I'd shout out anyways
because the voice don't die
ain't subject to being rubbed out
glass
wood
stone
i've been said not to cry enough
hell, my whole life
is one big cry
among the other lepers
i feel right & to home
the atmosphere was given to us
to breathe
the old widows come to me
with their loneliness & PTSD
I say to them What's happening girl?
& plug them into the society of
vagabonds, slackers, & angels
it's said the clouds are lined with sterling silver
but listening to the old girls gives me the know
that many days all the enterprise entails
is the finding of one copper penny
which counts as a victory
the river flows on
& the jam flows with it
ticky ticky boom boom ratta-tat
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Driving down crowded beltway
Potomac
Seneca
Only memories
Dreaming, closing thine eyes
300 years
400 years
On this hallowed ground
Vision dance
Fire's smoke lingers @ dawn
Goes around/comes around
We will wait
Our spirits on this spot
Time turns
Same river
Same fish and beaver
Deer smaller
Bear hiding
Wildcats linger....hidden
Potomac
Seneca
Powhatan
John Smith's racing
Mercedez Benz
BMW's
Hung up
Hung out to dry
All of 'em waiting to die.

yesterdays wrapped up
inside today - today be wrapped up
in tomorrow
old trails crosslots long gone
that i had worn into the earth
visiting the natural blond daughter of a man
who had survived the D-Day landings
& then German prison camp
where the Germans broke his knuckles
because he refused to rape a Polish female POW
ain't no permanent residence here
ain't no stopping
it's always a GO
you get your jam down
on the trees & on the stones
put it in someone's ear
& shoot it into cyberspace
Hanshan knew it
that crazy old fuck
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

Mrs. Mars left yesterday for games in the desert
I want something that tastes like tobacco without being tobacco
We can do that these days
Speaking of that I'm headed for the graveyard this morning
to put stones on the graves
not to celebrate death but because
everything is moving and I don't mind waiting for around the bend
counting roadkill along the way
I don't want to get there only to find my key don't fit the lock
I love the way the sunlight does things this time of year
coming in on the slant the way it does.

Sunday October 13th
holes in my socks
breakfast on my mind
saw the moon last night
again already?

I'll just get up & go

man the jam is
not leaving me alone
- damn! some days there ain't no first thought
however much you want one one
other days it's a stampede
rawhide up the ass
and you in the middle
lookin' for the cook
on a long string of blues

went to play some chess
but words and things brought me
back here
I once saw a pic of Jackie Kennedy
sitting in a chair
with a book open in her hands
a copy of The Subterraneans by Kerouac
I have forgotten much ya know
but not that pic
she was focused on the words before her
dark-eyed
& intent
never understood how she chose Robert Frost
to read at her husband's inaugural
she was a Mexico City Blues woman
if I ever saw one

Correctness the poetic key
She shoulda chose Jack
He woulda been drunk
She coulda
Ask what u can do
No rape
Knuckles gotta go 1st
The bastards karma paid
I guarantee
Light and shadows
None here for daze
People getting grumpy
Makes me wanna sleep
Sending some sculptures
to Harpers Ferry
Rachel's new place
Never showed in West by God before
It is almost heaven on that side
of the Potomac
Leaves starting to turn
Everthing wet & soggy
All about jammin
Sunday morning a great time
Ipad by my side
A lazy bunch-a-words spew forth
Breakfast?
Of course i'll mosey out of this cave
sooner or later
Trapped in the reading
Gary Snyder, Allen Ginsberg letters
R.H.Blyth Zen
Such a vague word
Undefineable amidst the rabble of life
Just B
At B
O say can U B
Jam
I like it for there is no plan
Just words
To B or not to B heard
Running down the page
Loose, like a long necked goose
Like Jerry Lee stompin his piano
Jack wearing flannel to the Ritz
Jayne Mansfield's tits
Showing my age
Time makes u unafraid
Just goes on and on
I keep singing my jam songs
I'll be doggone if i'm gonna stop

rain
black night
a woman rubs her
bare feet on the rug
the sound of that going into
my ears and
jamming there
far away the sea
beats against the shore up & down the coast
the jazz of July is jealous
of the jug passed around
by the October blues

rain keepin' me in today
been sittin' too long now
got to take some pills for the back pain
take a shower
give myself a shave
take my ol' hound for a walk
but not to say there is
anything mundane 'bout this shit
cuz there ain't
some poets hoot 'bout walkin' thru the fire
hey i believe it but
there ain't anything i can do better
than walk in the rain
wonder what the church bells
sound like in mexico
or up in canada -
i hear they got plenty of scene
up there in to-ron-to
bet that's a native word
just like mexico is

Oaxaca
Teotihuacan
Chichen Itza
Native names
Places i've never been
Seen all the pics
Toronto
Been to Niagra Falls
Slowly I turn like the
3 Stooges
Watched 'em with a passion
as a kid
Step by step, inch by inch
A barrel of Jam
Dump trucks full of Jam
By the gallon
By the yard
Reading more than ever
R.H Blyth
Gary Snyder
Of course Jack
Feel like a Jack scholar
He is the reason I started to read books
Then came Henry Miller
I'd still be a golfer if it wasn't for him
Choices to find a voice
Rain gone here
Blue skies
Nice ride home
Feel like a snooze
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....
