under the spreading chest nut tree...
abstroint my first cyber pal on this info highway
to lose her friendship
even though virtual
maybe my greatest fear at the moment.

it's true
that tension
between an artist's vision
and thhe creation
not to make so muchh out of perfection
just flow with the sensation
of longing
i am conquered
i surrender
but i don't quit
and i don't give up
unless somebody tells me to wrong somebody else
without my consent
the courage to resist
even your charms
will have to desist
because in your peacefullness
my sanity exists.

rev al is my pal
tho he may be a hypocrit
but to lose a friend
when they're not easy to come by
for me
is no bullshit bad news
i gotta stop
mercy

halleluya brotha!
praise be the true tension
between invention and pretension.

we are all catholics now.
domini domini domini -
in the beginning
there was the word.

we are forgiven
i have heard.

let there be incense.

Incense
sandalwood or belly kisses?
What’s belly kisses smell like?
Relaxed passion
Yes to the kisses
“Rub ur tummy Governor?”
The quote?
I don’t remember where it came from
Whoever was closest to wrong
Used the secret apology
You don’t ever have to tell me your sorry
Late phone call wakes
“I have a chance to fly, should I?”
“Why are you asking me?”
“The dreams”
Plane crashes and consuming fire balls recurring
“I just woke up man. I don’t know. How’s it feel?”
“Good and bad.”
“Go! or don’t go you ultimately have to decide.”
“Goodnight”
Thunder? Too loud
Planes! To the window
Smoke near the airport
Hand pressed to pane
“Goodnight” and back to bed
Annoying screaming repetitive beeping
What a horrible dream
Coffee background noise
“Last night a twin engine plane crashed on the runway of the Kalamazoo/BattleCreek international airport. The four passengers were all pronounced dead at the scene.”
Was it a dream?
Did we talk last night?
“…the aircraft was virtually a massive fireball!”
This has got to be a weird dream coincidence
He knows not to ask me questions
Until I’ve been awake for at least a half hour
He was excited
Release the names!
“At this early hour only two of the four deceased passengers have been identified…”
Oh God no
Yes

Rub ur tummy Governor?

Whether virtual or to virtually a massive fireball
Losing a friend is not pleasant
Eventually all comes to an end
Both fear and fireballs are consuming
Rats will enter the brain through the eyes
Something will consume you
Will your eyes go without fear or
Will you go out in a blaze of glory?
Or……?
What if we simply care to interact?
Go!?

Fear can and often will build virtual dams where there is a free flow
Dams can produce energy
So does the big fireball we call the sun
Trees grow toward and of flames
Dams fell them and the cycle of the moment moves on hope
floats
for the dam to create energy
the flow must continue to Go
floating on streams
praised to just be

as I lay dying
you offered me a kind word
Cynthia I know it is hard sometimes
I don't know what I can say to help

If I had no hope
I would be less fearful

I hope I get to walk on a beach again.

between hope and fear lies courage
yes indeed
good to be a sensitive

airplane crashes special to me
carried my dad's bent zippo lighter they pulled from the crash when he was almost 23
in my flight suit in vietnam
got stoned and forgot it
lost by mamasan in the laundry
somewhere in vietnam in a trashheap
metal back to earth

have known others who bought the farm that way
i want to survive
want to be alive
want to live with purpose

worry every day my wife drives across the bay
so i take the time to say goodbye

little strokes of friendship

other times i avoid contact
with antiwar buddies
with personal agendas and confusion

into taichi
meditation
healing
tired of dissent
tired of complaining
maybe i will have more courage again tomorrow
who likes to be called a traitor
tired of anger
seeking cool calm collected poems of fugitive poet

I did it
just the same

I reclaimed
my right
to exorcise my will

fear be damned
the future
slips into the past

regardless
of my stance

the future slips into the past
old vulnerabilities become new again
nothing is certain
shaking like a leaf in a pine tree
the wind blows me away
and i float
gently
this way and that
where i will land
no matter
no mind
everything is an opportunity
to wake
up

Memorable Melodies

Dissolving all the obstacles
Keeping us separate from the whole and ourselves
I don’t remember how I ended up in this session
Stark economy and clarity of organization
A sudden clash of thunder
Arguably the first great unaccompanied piano solo
Clearly there was tension
It was actually audible
Lovingly skewed reinterpretation of an old standard
The door is open and you
Assemble for the first time in one package
A variation on the cord structure
The life juice is something transcendental
An opportunity to see life in all its dimensions
A solid swinging pulse was always at the heart
Around such simple melodic ideas
A bass drum combination with a diamond thunderbolt
Listening is one of the basic secrets of opening
Then your conscious starts unfolding
This time cleverly scored with the perfect harmony of the universe
Wait listen to the buoyant jagged contours otherwise ordinary
Everybody is moving
When you listen attentively to someone you lose yourself
I was just very happy!
Listening

When free from hopes, I wouldn't fear
as loves all lost could not draw near—
yet hopeful as I am
I'm damned to give a damn
when hoped of loves dissolve and clear.

fear is all that's left
when stripped of hope
we descend into
the hell we fashioned
from cruelty & suffering

all rest sans fear is right
