jammin!!!
ain't nothin' better
free falling
through the words
going back to the 24 hr.
poetry jam
a once in a forever
if ya was there
u know
oh the jams
we've had here
umpteen times
through it all
the last how many years?
jammin!
never slamming
an open door
to the surreal
to the spontaneous
to whatever mind imaginings
you have.......

little league parade
bright & early with the grandson
hysterical watching five and six
year olds trying to figure out
the crazy game of balls and bats
and gloves way too big, and
batting helmets over their eyes
and all the distractions that make
them wander around looking for rocks
in the grass, or laying down to take
a nap in the outfield and all these
dedicated adults giving up their time
to try and teach them the rules
of the game, the rules of life...
cooperation and having fun
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

warm me up
start me up
rolling stone me
in dem muddy waters
hooked on shrimp
camarones in espanol
Esperanza you had yer daze
hot today and forever
silence creeping in
a dog barks beneath my window
planes sound in distant skies
there's a continual hummmmmm
almost cut my hair
but nah
gotta get back to where
it all began

I remember the big 24 hour LK poem.
I got a couple of lines published in that madness,
something about a thirty foot Jesus in a ghost robe
I think, but it's hard to recall exactly.
I was just getting started, sky was the limit.
But then the next day it went blank.

And soon the Eight was born...

The 8 was planned for over a year,
in process of development ...
We launched it early
after all our words got mixed up together,
and overnight, nobody had anywhere to go.

Thanks for rescuing the crew, Doreen.
Lightning Rod too, Freedom Hall, but
that was different, too raw (but the
Jubal Harshaw quotes were good).
And Mindless "M.O.O.L's" for awhile
too, those were the days (daze?)
These are the days too...

head reelin
like a staggering drunk
how can a man wake up
that way
how can a man be unable
to pin a tail on a donkey
even when he's peeking
some days are meant for fine tuning
everything seems off
but an old timer knows this
an old timer never panics
he waits for the sun
that he knows will return
like light after dark
he hunkers down in the cove
lets the wind blow hard
as it wants to...it's nothing
but a thing he has seen thousands
of times like extras in Ben Hur,
Be calm brother-soul
peace lies just over the inlet
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Good daze n bad
Back to work now
Gotta b on my game
Just gotta rest when possible
I never get pissed now
Just happy I'm back rodbustin'
Yes indeed I do lay my hands
on the steel every once in awhile
Fighting my way back after that stroke
Rebirth of sorts....hell I couldn't even
write my signature back in August 8)

my god they are beating the drums
over in amsterdam
blowing the sax way up in juneau
guys running the alley on singlespeeds
somebody shouts "Gethsemane !"
look out all the wheels !
steam rising up out the sewers
young blonde little tattoo on her leg
thumbs just touching her lips
all in the image
the blues
everything
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

next scan may 11
they'll shoot the dye
into my arm
and I'll be radioactive
come home eat miso soup
take kelp pills
try to minimize the damage
4 CT scans in 5 months
I think they're trying to kill me
western medicine has it's ups
and downs...slow to change
maybe leeches are just as good
as chemo...do they know ?
leeches would be cheap
get 'em down in the swamp
chemo drugs 2K a drip...madness
like wireman can't take it serious
no sense complaining 'bout being alive
and mo-bile

A helluva life it do be
I just don't know
Work madness
How to rise above it
Not get caught up in it
The futility of it all
The health situation
Is abysmal, just plain scary
When your old
Work till I die
That's what I'm gonna do
Whilst them hellhounds are
on my trail
Laughing it all the way
Like the angel Joni says

I'm reading your posts backwards.
Last then next-to-last then the one before that
and so on. It's hard to catch up when you're going
backwards. Wireman's working, halelluyah! I can't spell
but I sure as hell am glad to know struggles are worth
struggling for. Steve's had a long road behind and more
road ahead and though it's damn difficult, my head's being
fed with positive outlooks because so much rocky terrain
has already been traversed. Yeah, man, things have been worse
and now they're gettin' better.

I love ya guys. Just thought I'd tell ya.

love you too doreen
you've certainly had some challenges
each day, month, year
we find ourselves fighting
for quality of life
we couldn't have imagined this
even when it was obvious
we wouldn't always be young
and so we resist the things
that try to bring us down
with as much humor and grace
as we can muster any given day
we never want to be a whiner
but understand the strength
in sharing our stories, this my friends
is community, and life ain't much
without it...Fuck the Marboro Man
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Yeah, fuck him
Rain n more rain this morning
2 steel trucks ugh!
Then outta there at 9 am.
Got my friends to drop me downtown D.C.
Then l went to the national gallery
West & East
Had a long talk with a guard there in front of a Leonardo da Vinci
About all sorts of stuff
Saw the impressionist and prayed before the Gauguin's
Had some lunch then went to a talk by the foremost authority on the sculptor rodin
Interesting talk, then I saw an exhibit of Frederic Basille's early impressionist
paintings at the East, he was killed in the Franco - Prussian war before he reached his full potential, all in all it was a good day...... 8)
