saw post-post Mahavishnu John McLaughlin
jammin' hard with Dennis Chambers
saw the late great Larry Coryell
(3 times)
got to shake his hand
and make him laugh
saw 70-year old Billy Cobham
floorin' the young cats with his chops
saw Pat Metheny
Albert Collins
Al Dimeola
Taj Mahal
BB King
so much music
alive
spontaneous
organic
nary a producer in sight
music
like farm-fresh produce
not beans from a can

back from Hyattsville
a day for music
all over historic Frederick
into the night at bars & stages
multi tasking now
live music, golf on tv, and writing
iPad writing beats the phone writing 8)
brunch n screwdrivers at jojo's
that's livin'
jammin now
a special writing style, free flow....
music in background
live
always better
golf on tube from Sicily
a course on the sea, beautiful imagery
jammin'
oh so nice to be
red beans & rice
simple
like a dimple
lettin' life be
livin' free
my choice
and voice
shout it out
loud n proud
jammin' 8)
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

rockin' the kombucha
giving my gut a little help
can't ignore your pro-biotics
now can ya ?...cuz thayze part
and parcel, part of the plan
a shot across the bowel....ha ha

down in the gastro-laboratory
bacteria are working like little elves
in one of the those old christmas movies
hi ho hi ho, even the dwarfs know
they whistle while they work,
it's a wonderful picture I wish
I could make into an animated film
billions of bacteria with little pickaxes
helping me feel Ok
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

remembering the old mencken's

gloomy gray
is there any other kind
sunless splashes of tire water
dampen my mood a bit
but I'm soon reminded
I won't be on a scaffold today
or won't be carrying a satchel
full of mail up and down steps
so I take a deep breath
sink into my coffee with gratitude
CT scan, x-rays negative baby
so signs of alien life growing
ready to burst out of my thorax
Ripley on duty to clean it all up
thankful for every day
I get to see my kids, my friends
my grandson, brother, sister
the old gray mare she ain't
what she used to be ,
she IS, just the same
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

hiked the river
mountain laurel flora
raining in the breeze
just like sweat from the sky
the tulip poplars
lining the ground like
Hansel and Gretel
the avian overture
bold and happy and impressive
a bit muddy after 4 days of rain
but the cabin fever won out
and I jumped the big puddles
like a kid I remember
and the sundance was in and out
of the swaying branches
ode to joy
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

finished The Keepers on Netflix
so disturbing to know the Archdiocese
would facilitate the sickest humans
on the planet over and over again
not just here in Baltimore, but Boston
and every major city in the world
a haven for pedophilia, sanctioned
by the highest levels of the church
and they still get to be called a religion
' still get tax breaks to abuse....
and here in B'mo they even murdered
a nun about to reveal the depravity
fuck them all...they scared me at 8 years old
luckily I was empathic enough to feel the evil
and kept away as many were tortured...
the ripple effects essentially endless
through families, drug addiction to cope
suicide if that didn't work all under the veil
of holiness...I really hate those MF's...yes
I may have ptsd too....I remember always steering
away from being alone with a priest, but so many
others got caught up in the web...sick fucks
sorry for this diatribe...I needed to get it out
so I can go back to my peaceful self
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

.....jammin in a uber
Back to Hyattsville
After long weekend
Rolling down I-270
It's finally sunny and clear
S8 is the place now
We gotta keep it going
Traffics kinda slow as
we head down out of the hills
Write it down
My memory ain't what it used to be
In the short term I mean
Long term it's still good as it ever was
Traffic moving good now
Ain't that what it's all about any more?

Sifting thoughts
Drifting in illusion
The world
A jam venue
Exotic...mercurial
Misunderstood
By the many
To bop or not be bopped
Bird so confused
Diz, I was blessed to see him
Satchmo too
Mahavishnu makes it 3
Small clubs, cellar door n blues alley
Cherished
Many nights, way to many
Et tu brute...& u
I jam...yes
I do....
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....

remember
the thrill of discovery?
the first time
you heard the music?
the first time
a world of vistas
appeared to you?
Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew"
kind of blue me away
John McLaughlin's "Shakti"
it toke some time,
but it changed my soul
Bill Laswell's dark visions
in Material's "Memory Serves"
and the alien imagery wrought
by Iannis Xenakis
George Crumb
Morton Subotnik
Donald Erb
magical music
musical magic
impinging sounds
changing my neurochemistry...
how can this be?
