(I Miss him so much Judih. Saw him on his last tour a few weeks before he died, and was suprised how much i was torn by his loss, my wife told me coming in late from work and i mostly asleep sat up in shock and disbelief and kept repeating "no, no no", he was just about to make it.... off topic)

Stretch those lips love and impart wisdom
something to get my day out of the bedroom, my children fed
my mind away detached from one way prayer into conversation
into movement
I follow yours all over our home, my bathrobe i never get to wear on the floor
like an abandoned parachute and i know you've landed safely
from our bed and my arms into the wider world where strangers
know your name and cafeteria lunches still exist,
by my computer a bookshelf where your degree's and certifications that sit next to my signed vinyl and posters seem out of place, too damn high
so i leave to find a torpedo level, hammer and nail, take a guitar off the wall and raise you up

why i say break on thru to th other side
and still be alive
jive
sad
sometimes laughter and humor come from
despair and hopelessness
and seeing irrationality
in the normally sane

i can be useless
and still breathe
and still believe
in empty notes
wthout passion
or intent
can save life
and live with
only a minimal amount of risk
depending on your thirst
like pot and st john's wort
are better than alcohol and cocaine
says the man at the scene
don't get busted be there then

i get stage fright when i leave out the front door
i see the world looking at me and i wear my shades
i carry a stool with me wherever i go
ya never know when a joke sample will emerge
i can sit like the thinker and amuse the world
just so they'll know i am not catatonic
when i'm laughing all alone at their serious pain
ha ha ha ha
look at the inner child
sitting on a stool haha

nothing funny about an O.D.
there's no last laugh

a funny bootless shirt wearing wayfarer
thas' immaculate -
life in an asteroid cluster
the ultimate jam with
the pan pulled out and
the fish fryin' so the meaning is
impeccable thus the thrust
O the strength it takes
changing a billboard from
one to the other to
far thunder
when the road disappeared beneath the waves
I changed from feet & wheels to
a boat and I'm went on out there
sharp eye out for
the boots
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

i hit an i
was aiming for a u
learned yesterday
rhyming ain't hiphop jamming
i believe it's like the chorus
singing backup praise
the man phrasing god
mindful wandering
hit an o
yeah
out to sea
never been since
way back when
it was just one more beat
down ride
back bench flying
fish looking in at frying man
