one foot in front of the other
babies wobble at first, they run
across the room with appreciation
for the changes in their mobility
it's a slow process at first, the wiggling
the crawling , the assistance
then one day down the road
we have our feet under us, but unlike
a baby, we understand what we lost
to get here, we learn to cope
we learn how to help others ease
their grief, one step at a time
our days of running are behind us
