go on!
take the parts
of me which go
on taking me from
one taken twist
of fate to another
wait for you to take me,
faked like muted shades
of unawakened hues
and tints!

go on!
take my residue,
my burnt up ash!
stash me in an urn!
bury me deep beneath
mud slides too weak
to hold avalanche tears,
gone off cliff hangs,
dropped into caverns,
fjords!

take my words stored
up in a back throat swallow;
spit them out for me,
hollow me like a reed;
bleed my veins vacant!

take it all away
all my vanity
all my sorrow
all my joy
nothing left but peanut sacks and wagon tracks

words drumming on the top of my head like rain drops on a tin roof
they leak out my eyes and run down my face in black ink

elephant boy sleeps on his hay bales and dreams of babies.
the circus heads for the the next town
laying out under the stars that night he knew it was a moment to last foreever. he marked the mental location of this crumb of happiness*

moments of wonder and joy beads on his chain of being
sorrow needs no special effort.
