Hang in there!
By tomorrow things
should be back to turmoil.

what's the point?

What is the point of Go?
That's what I want to know.
The point where a pebble falls into still water.
The ripples that go out from the point where the stone breaks the surface tension of the water. Go surfs the ripple.

And the Greeks seek wisdom, the Jews seek a sign.

Thinking about my next pip.
If it was fair, I would be the next pip to GO.
and:
Well, the first days are the hardest days,
don't you worry anymore

I know the point of GO!
I do not know the point of stop,
or the point of continuing
on nights when cellos cry
and bass drums beat
a funeral march.

I do not know the point of stop,
or the point of continuing
I have no idea what those points are.

It almost seems pointless to wonder about the point. Do I need a point to keep on living? Life is beautiful for me, it is not beautiful for a starving baby born in Dafur today. Of the billions of people who will be alive tomorrow and theones who will die tonight. I wish I had a good answer for you. Mourning is a numb feeling for me. I feel diminished

The most
important
questions
are rhetorical.
They do not
require answers,
yet often lead
to additional
questions.

I asked the moon
how it stayed in the sky.
In reply, he asked me why
my eyes teared when
the stars told a joke
and why I laughed
at the grave.

I always wondered why we covered the mirrors
Maybe it was just so we would not look at ourselves
and break out laughing at a dam good joke
It is so hard to fake grief
When a son does not mourn a dead father
People expect appropriate behavior
And ask rhetorical questions that seem like punchlines to jokes

dam I was crazy
only difference now
is I know

i stoped at a light, quarter to seven,
opened my window and stretched,
i looked at the fog across the street in the field,
i didn't mind and when the light changed
i flew formation behind the car in front of me.

my lady is waiting to go to hospice house.
i unplugged her iv, and now she is sitting in the window
enjoying the warmth of the sun.

my sister emailed me
she smoked some pot before work today.
has been tooting lately, walking a country labyrinth
after work, where stop and go have no meaning
just meandering and whiling away the time.

me i have no agenda
sitting on the veranda without walls
learning to follow my breath
chop wood carry water
the moon stays in the sky
so we can wonder why

next stop
terminal velocity

my sister emailed me
me i have no agenda
"Love the one you are with"
Sisters are so precious, all the of the advantages of loving a woman and none of the disadvantages.

Teaching her how to fish.
whatever it takes to make her happy

I owe it to her mother
i looked at the fog across the street in the field,
I wanted to go to Visual with a picture of a sailboat. Thinking about a foggy river, The Potomac River in the background. I started out in the dark one morning, fifteen foot sailboat, no outboard, It is amazing how calm that river can get. Dead in the water with the sound of something big coming at me, tug boats pushing fuel barges.

Sing another verse of the working man's blues.

Rode my motorcycle about twenty miles today. I getting to be an expert rider. So far I have a hundred miles of riding under my belt. Time to hit the big road and take a little trip. Ha. Still got the fear on me. Shamed myself into fith gear today, 50 mph. Felt alive. Strange thing when I touch it, it feels like my hand becomes stuck to it like it. The stuff of my hand mingled with the motorcycle stuff and we were one.

A day for rhetorical questions. Why is tonight different from all other nights? Because 87 years ago tonight that the world was on the eve of peace. The war to end war was about to end. There would not be another war for a long long time.

crazy jack, happy poppy day brother.

back to turmoil
i stalled the discharge of a lady today
JA! say no to the salvation army
say no to the street
say no to the beaurocrats
the friends you meet at work
they would jerk her outa there
with a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt
a psych patient with a blood clot and man i mean to tell you
she would have put that lady out on the street
with nothing moore than a day's bus pass and her medicaid number

just a number she becomes an unciomscoius member of the big machine, what it is, striving for efficiency and cost control. neither compassion nor common sense matter. in spanish they call her
la trabajadora social
maybe it's the english language so fucking concrete

she was terrified of being sent out.i got with my manager and
charge nurse and we confabbed and they agreed to stall it and after hours i called the on call doc the Finkster, and he holds the discharge as "unsafe." la muchacha enferma y con miedo.

IN the morning I am gonna call her shrink and ask her about some kind of sub-acute place for her tostay and get structure and therapeutic living.

Yes, I stayed in the sub-acute residential treatment center in santa cruz for a year, come in from the woods,
graduated to a cab and gave old tom scribner a free cab ride. an old wobbly, he played the musical saw.

we can beat the system one hung up person at a time
for every hung uup person in the whole wide universe
the sounds of freedom come crashing down
just when freedom needs to abound.

i ain't gonna discharge that woman into the street and i got tomorrow to deal with it, oh sweet jesus have compassion on me
i only wanna do good like i know you do
and so we on the same page me an you
even if you is a jew
so is my zen shrink.

my friend jay says he has a mike for me
a rap song live at patriots' point in tampa.
veterans for peace
maybe it will become a tradition that endures
until there are no more veterans
awake past bedtime.
